CBD vs. THC: What’s the Difference?

CBD and THC come from the same plant, but their effects couldn’t be more different. If you’re new to cannabis, understanding these two compounds is key to finding the right product for your needs.

THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) is the compound responsible for the "high" associated with cannabis. It binds to cannabinoid receptors in the brain, leading to effects like euphoria, relaxation, and altered perception. Many people use THC for pain relief, appetite stimulation, and mood enhancement.

CBD (Cannabidiol) is non-psychoactive, meaning it won’t get you high. Instead, it works with the body’s endocannabinoid system to promote relaxation, reduce inflammation, and ease anxiety. Unlike THC, CBD is widely used for stress relief, sleep support, and general wellness without impairing mental function.

How Do They Work Together?

CBD and THC are often combined to create the entourage effect, where their benefits are enhanced when used together. CBD can help reduce some of THC’s side effects, such as anxiety or paranoia, making for a more balanced experience.

Which One is Right for You?

  • For relaxation and stress relief: CBD
  • For pain and appetite stimulation: THC
  • For sleep support: A mix of both, or CBN (which we covered last week!)

If you’re unsure, start with CBD-only products before exploring THC. Everyone reacts differently, so finding the right balance is key.
